In Extension education communication is made for influencing the people to make favourable behavioral changes in thir knowledge, skills and attitude thereby to improve their living status . good communication is art and it requires knowledge, imagination, ability to communicate and skills to select and use channels according to the situation. It is basically a process of selling ideas and influencing the thoughts of the receiver. for communicating an idea, experience or technology, extension professionals use audio-visual aids as they help them to communicate the message effectively. Audio -visuals provide the learers with a situation nearest to the reality and readily gets the idea. Audio -visual aids are just tools or aids for transfer of ideas, technology or message. The success depends upon the selection and use of right audio-visual aids at be selective in the right way. Therefore, the extension workers need to be selective in using these aids in consideration of the different situations of their audience and at different stages in the innovation auoption process. It is therefore essential for the extension professionals to understand the basics of communication and use of audio-visual aids in the communication process.
