• The book entitled the catastrophe and after written by Dr. vareethiah Konstantine , is the fruit of the auther ,s
  involvement in and analysis of the life of the people living in the kanyakumari coast. He makes a deep reflection over the
  concerns of these subaltern communities and brings to the fore pertinent issues of their livelihood and habitats in the post
  tsunami scenaroio , the governments , long- term policy and agenda for the coastal environment and fishery and the civil
  society organisations , road maps for handling these issues. 
  
  
  
  The author provides some information on kanyakumari coast to enlighen the reader on the socio - economic setting and
  historic background of the area  of study in chapter 1, chapter 2, deals with  the december 2004 tsunami and its impact
  on the communitey, the environment and the efforts to rehabilitste the affected people: chapter 3 is a vision document on
  fishery, fishing amd the fish workers in kanyakumari district. This chapter analyses the various issues related to fishing and
  thefisher people and makes many recommendations to improve the situation. chapter 4 summarises the voices of the
  various organizations on subjects including those discussed inchapter2
