• This book presents, as a part of the introduction, a brief overview of teacher preparation in india and a few western countries whose influence is prevalent in Indian teacher education system. Having developed an innovative model of Language Teacher Education the author presents the theoretical support to this model ( Chapter IV) and justifies the model as it provides an answer to the many probelms the system faces at present. A set of materials has been produced following the model and presented as the new training materials for the B.Ed. English course. They have been tried out in a few colleges of Education and the result has been found satisfactory. The opininons of the practising teachers, teacher educators, ELT experts have been found favourable. A few sample materials are presented at the end of he book and more materials can be developed using these examples.
